Taxonomy
Chonetes arabicus was named by Hudson and Sudbury (1959).

It was recombined as Neochonetes (Sommeriella) arabicus by Angiolini (1999); it was recombined as Neochonetes (Nongtaia) arabicus by Archbold (1999), Sone et al. (2003), Viaretti et al. (2022).
