Taxonomy
Caractacaster yarraensis was named by Withers and Keble (1934). Its type specimen is Holotype and paratypes number 377, National Museum, Melbourne and is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Yarravaster.
It was recombined as Yarravaster yarraensis by Owen (1965).
