Taxonomy
Urasterella selwyni was named by McCoy (1874). Its type specimen is Syntypes 12207, 12208, National Museum, Melbourne and is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Salteraster selwyni by Withers and Keble (1934), Blake and Koniecki (2020).
