Taxonomy
Pinegochonetes pinegensis was named by Kulikov (2000). Its type specimen is TsNIIGR Museum 2933/68, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pirinem Village, Pinega River, which is in a Roadian coastal siliciclastic in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Pinegochonetes pinegensis by Afanasjeva (2000).
