Taxonomy
Aulosteges tuberculatus was named by King (1931). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is University of Texas T239, Road Canyon, Glass Mountains, which is in a Roadian carbonate limestone in the Word Formation of Texas.

It was recombined as Echinosteges tuberculatus by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960), Cooper and Grant (1975), Torres-Martínez et al. (2019).
