Taxonomy
Platyzona cancellata was named by Batten (1989). Its type specimen is USNM 431575 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM721s, Hess Canyon, Glass Mountains, which is in a Roadian slope limestone in the Road Canyon Formation of Texas.
