Taxonomy
Chonetes victorianus was named by Girty (1929). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Victoria Peak, Sierra Diablo, which is in a Kungurian carbonate limestone in the Bone Spring Formation of Texas.

It was recombined as Chonetinella victoriana by Stehli (1954), Cooper and Grant (1975); it was recombined as Neochonetes (Huangichonetes) victoriana by Shen and Archbold (2002).
