Taxonomy
Rhynchonella longaeva was named by Girty (1909). Its type specimen is USNM 118573a, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Fascicosta longaeva by Stehli (1955), Cooper and Grant (1976), Viaretti et al. (2022).
