Taxonomy
Bakevellia gouldii was named by Beede (1902).

It was recombined as Cyrtodontarca gouldii by Beede (1907); it was recombined as Dozierella gouldii by Newell (1940), Clifton (1942) and Walter (1953); it was recombined as Leptodesma gouldii by Boyd and Newell (2001).
