Fusispirifer nitiensis
Taxonomy
Spirifer nitiensis was named by Diener (1897). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Kiunglung Camp, SW of Niti Pass, which is in a Wuchiapingian marine shale in the Productus Shale Formation of India.
It was recombined as Spirifer (Neospirifer) fasciger nitiensis by Reed (1931); it was recombined as Neospirifer nitiensis by Fantini Sestini (1965); it was recombined as Fusispirifer nitiensis by Waterhouse (1966), Waterhouse (1978), Waterhouse (2004).
