Taxonomy
Neospirifer tibetensis was named by Ting (1962).

It was recombined as Quadrospira tibetensis by Waterhouse (2004) and Williams et al. (2007); it was recombined as Neospirifer (Quadrospira) tibetensis by Shen et al. (2001), Shen et al. (2003), Shi et al. (2003) and Xu et al. (2018).
