Palaeosolaster gregoryi was named by Stürtz (1899). It is the type species of Palaeosolaster.

Synonyms

Helianthaster roemeri was named by Clarke (1908).

It was recombined as Palaeosolaster roemeri by Schuchert (1915); it was synonymized subjectively with Palaeosolaster gregoryi by Spencer (1925).
Echinasterias spinosus was named by Stürtz (1899). It is the type species of Echinasterias.

It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeosolaster gregoryi by Spencer (1925).
Echinodiscus multidactylus was named by Stürtz (1899). It is the type species of Echinodiscus.

It was recombined as Echinodiscaster multidactylus by Schuchert (1915); it was synonymized subjectively with Palaeosolaster gregoryi by Spencer (1925).
Echinostella traquairi was named by Stürtz (1899). It is the type species of Echinostella.

It was synonymized subjectively with Palaeosolaster gregoryi by Spencer (1925).
