Aturia clarkei

Taxonomy

Aturia clarkei was named by Teichert (1944) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Western Australia.]. Its type specimen is UWA 21406, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kennedy Range, north of Merlinleigh Homestead, which is in a Lutetian shoreface sandstone in the Merlinleigh Sandstone Formation of Australia.

Synonyms

Deltoidonautilus bakeri was named by Teichert (1947). Its type specimen is University of Melbourne 1939, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Near Princetown, 0.5 miles NW of Point Ronald (reworked), which is in an Eocene marine sandstone in the Clifton Formation of Australia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Aturia clarkei by Glaessner (1955).
Aturia clarkei attenuata was named by Teichert and Cotton (1949). Its type specimen is SAM P.9027, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was considered an invalid subgroup of Aturia clarkei by Glaessner (1955), Darragh and Kendrick (2010).
