Scaphites haugi was named by de Grossouvre (1894) [DISTRIBUTION: Campanian: Europe, Asia.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Tauillard (Charente), Assise P3, which is in a Campanian carbonate carbonate in France.
It was recombined as Scaphites (Scaphites) haugi by Kennedy (1986) and Kennedy et al. (1992).
