Calycoceras (Eucalycoceras) besairieri was named by Collignon (1937). It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Calycoceras (Proeucalycoceras).

It was recombined as Calycoceras (Proeucalycoceras) besairieri by Kennedy and Simmons (1991).
