Taxonomy
Drakeoceras drakei was named by Young (1957) [DISTRIBUTION: Albian; Texas.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Drakeoceras.

It was recombined as Mortoniceras (Angolaites) drakei by Kennedy et al. (1998).
