Taxonomy
Ammonites dispar was named by d'Orbigny (1841). It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Stoliczkaia, Stoliczkaia (Stoliczkaia).
It was recombined as Hoplites dispar by Choffat (1888); it was recombined as Stoliczkia dispar by Anderson (1902); it was recombined as Stoliczkaia dispar by Diener (1925), Böse (1928) and Stoyanow (1949); it was recombined as Stoliczkaia (Stoliczkaia) dispar by Young (1979), Kennedy et al. (1998), Szives (2007), Kennedy and Latil (2007) and Gautam et al. (2019).
