Taxonomy
Ammonites (Schloenbachia) lepeei was named by Fallot (1885) [DISTRIBUTION: Coniacian; western Europe, southern Africa.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Dieulefit (Soulier collection), which is in a Coniacian marine sandstone in the Grès Verts de Dieulefit Formation of France.

It was recombined as Peroniceras (Peroniceras) lepeei by Kennedy (1984), Klinger and Kennedy (1984), Kennedy (1995).
