Taxonomy

Placenticeras kaffrarium was named by Etheridge (1904) [DISTRIBUTION: Turonian-Coniacian; Southern Africa, India.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Proplacenticeras kaffrarium by Kinger and Kennedy (1980).

Sister species lacking formal opinion data

P. costatum, P. guardakense, P. interealare, P. kyzylkumense, P. meeki, P. minor, P. placentum, P. tamilicum

Synonyms

Placenticeras umkwelanensis was named by Etheridge (1904).

It was synonymized subjectively with Placenticeras kaffrarium by Sealey and Lucas (2019).
