Taxonomy
Ammonites salazacensis was named by Hébert and Munier-Chalmas (1875) [DISTRIBUTION: Upper Albian; France, Hungary, United Kingdom and South Africa.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Vallon de Cabaresse, near Salazac, which is in an Albian marine sandstone in France. It is the type species of Salaziceras, Salaziceras (Salaziceras).

It was recombined as Salaziceras salazacensis by Breistroffer (1936), Wright and Kennedy (1979); it was recombined as Salaziceras (Salaziceras) salazacense by Klinger and Kennedy (1994), Szives (2007).
