Taxonomy
Olcostephanus antarcticus was named by Weller (1903) [DISTRIBTUTION: Campanian; southern hemisphere.].

It was recombined as Kossmaticeras (Gunnarites) antarcticum by Kilian and Reboul (1909); it was recombined as Gunnarites antarcticus by Marshall (1926), Spath (1953), Lahsen and Charrier (1972), Kennedy and Klinger (1985) and Macellari (1986).
