Taxonomy
Ammonites planulatus was named by Sowerby (1827). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Puzosia, Puzosia (Puzosia).

It was recombined as Puzosia planulata by Bayle (1878), Douville (1879), Choffat (1905), Glaessner (1958); it was recombined as Puzosia (Parapuzosia) planulatus by Anderson (1958); it was recombined as Puzosia (Puzosia) planulatus by Wright and Kennedy (1984), Kennedy (1994), Kennedy (1994).
