Taxonomy
Ammonites gemmatus was named by Huppe (1854) [DISTRIBUTION: Maastrichtian; Antarctica.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Grossouvrites gemmatus by Spath (1953), Henderson and McNamara (1985), Macellari (1986), McNamara et al. (1988), Salazar et al. (2010).
