Idiohamites oronensis was named by Lewy (1969) [DISTIBUTION: Campanian; Western Interior, Israel.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Lewyites.
It was recombined as Lewyites oronensis by Kennedy and Cobban (1993), Kennedy (2000), Kennedy et al. (2000).
