Paquiericeras paradoxum was named by Sayn (1901) [DISTRIBUTION: Valanginian; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Paquiericeras, Paquiericeras (Paquiericeras).

It was recombined as Paquiericeras (Paquiericeras) paradoxum by Avram and Gradinaru (1993).
