Taxonomy
Olcostephanus sulcosus was named by Pavlow (1892) [DISTRIBUTION: Hauterivian; Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Subastieria.

It was recombined as Subastieria sulcosus by Avram and Gradinaru (1993).
