Taxonomy
Spitidiscus oregonensis was named by Imlay (1960) [DISTRIBUTION: Early Cretaceous; Pacific Coast, North America.]. Its type specimen is USNM 129697, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USGS Mesozoic 718, Riddle, which is in a Hauterivian marine siliciclastic in Oregon.
