Ringnesiceras ellefense was named by Kemper and Jeletzky (1979) [DISTRIBUTION: Valanginian; Greenland, Arctic Canada.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Dichotomites (Prodichotomites) ellefensis by Alsen (2006).
