Dimitobelus ongleyi was named by Stevens (1965) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Cretaceous; Antarctica, New Zealand.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Dimitobelus (Dimitobelus) ongleyi by Doyle (1990).
