Taxonomy
Dimitobelus hectori was named by Stevens (1965) [DISTRIBUTION: Late Cretaceous; New Zealand.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Dimitobelus (Dimitocamax).

It was recombined as Dimitobelus (Dimitocamax) hectori by Doyle (1990).
