Subschloenbachia irregularis was named by Spath (1922) [DISTRIBUTION: Albian.]. Its type specimen is BMNH C.20055, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 1, Shore at Old Lobito, which is in an Albian carbonate limestone in Angola.
It was recombined as Inflaticeras irregulare by Spath (1922); it was recombined as Elobiceras irregulare by Haas (1942).
