Hamites laqueus was named by Etheridge (1892) [DISTRIBUTION: Albian; Australia.]. It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Tower Hill, Mutabara [Tambo Series], which is in an Albian carbonate limestone in Australia.
It was recombined as Labeceras laqueus by Whitehouse (1926).
