Hoplites retowskyi was named by Sarasin and Schönderlmayer (1893). It is not extant. It is the type species of Pseudoneocomites.
It was recombined as Neocomites retowskyi by Mazenot (1939); it was recombined as Pseudoneocomites retowskyi by Klein (2005), Frau et al. (2016).
