Taxonomy
Ctenerpeton primum was named by Aldrich and Jones (1930). Its type specimen is ALMNH, an other, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Galloway No. 11 Mine, which is in a Westphalian delta plain shale in the Pottsville Formation of Alabama.
