Taxonomy
Gecatogomphius kavejevi was named by Vjushkov and Chudinov (1957). Its type specimen is PIN 1156/1, a mandible (right anterior hemimandible), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gorki village, PIN 1156, which is in an Ufimian/Kazanian fluvial sandstone in the Belebei Formation of the Russian Federation.
