Praecardium vetustum clymeniae was named by Beushausen (1895) [Praecardium vetustum var. Clymeniae; neotype given.]. Its type specimen is GZG 490-107, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Praecardium clymeniae by Jux and Krath (1974); it was recombined as Vetupraeca clymeniae by Nagel-Myers et al. (2008).
