Vetupraeca vetusta

Bivalvia - Cyrtodontida - Praecardiidae

Taxonomy
Cardium vetustum was named by Hall (1843) [Cardium? vetustum]. Its type specimen is AMNH-F1-42169, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is soft shales at banks of Genesee river, foot of upper Portage Falls, which is in a Famennian marine shale in the Gowanda Shale Formation of New York. It is the type species of Vetupraeca, Deltacardium.

It was recombined as Praecardium vetustum by Hall (1885), Clarke (1904); it was recombined as Deltacardium vetustum by Nagel (2006); it was recombined as Vetupraeca vetusta by Nagel-Myers et al. (2008).
