Sphaeromanticoceras was named by Clausen (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-m D Fras-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302,457]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Gephuroceratinae by Korn and Klug (2002), Korn (2006).
