Synpharciceras was named by Schindewolf (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Goniatites clavilobus. It is the type genus of Synpharciceratinae.
It was assigned to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); to Pharciceratidae by Korn and Klug (2002), Korn (2006); and to Synpharciceratinae by Bockwinkel et al. (2013), Bockwinkel et al. (2013), Bockwinkel et al. (2015).
