Taxonomy
Wedekindella was named by Schindewolf (1928) [Sepkoski's age data: D Give-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. Its type is Goniatites retrorsus brilonensis. It is the type genus of Wedekindellinae.
It was assigned to Pinacitinae by Arkell et al. (1957); to Wedekindellinae by Korn and Klug (2002); to Anarcestida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Parodoceratidae by Korn (2006).
