Riphaeoclymenia was named by Bogoslovsky (1981) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1042]. Its type is Riphaeoclymenia canaliculata.

It was assigned to Miroclymeniidae by Bogoslovsky (1981); to Clymeniida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Biloclymeniidae by Korn (2006) and Becker (2010).
