Taxonomy
Allassospongia polystromne was named by Rigby (1986). It is not extant. Its type locality is Sadler Ridge, reef slope, which is in a Frasnian perireef or subreef wackestone/shale in the Sadler Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Allassospongia.
