Taxonomy
Cavospongiella confossa was named by Rigby (1986). It is not extant. Its type locality is Casey Falls, McWhae Ridge, reef slope, which is in a Famennian perireef or subreef limestone/siltstone in the Virgin Hills Formation of Australia. It is the type species of Cavospongiella.
