Agastrioceras was named by Schmidt (1938) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Gastrioceratidae by Korn (2006); and to Reticuloceratinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
