Taxonomy
Pleurodon woodii was named by Dall (1898). It is extant. Its type locality is Unspecified localities [Caloosahatchee Formation], which is in a Pleistocene marine sandstone/limestone in the Caloosahatchee Formation of Florida.

It was recombined as Nucinella woodii by Woodring (1982), Vokes (1985), Mikkelsen and Bieler (2008), Coan and Valentich-Scott (2012).
