Beyrichoceras was named by Foord (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Glyphioceras (Beyrichoceras) by Foord (1903).

It was assigned to Glyphioceras by Foord (1903); to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Maxigoniatitidae by Korn et al. (1999), Korn (2006), Furnish et al. (2009), Korn and Sudar (2016).
