Taxonomy
Haplistion megalochetus was named by Finks (1960). Its type specimen is USNM 127637 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM701c, Wolf Camp Hills, Glass Mountains, which is in an Asselian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Neal Ranch Formation of Texas.
