Xenoprotrachyceras was named by Wang (1983). It is not extant. Its type is Xenoprotrachyceras primum.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Wang et al. (2008); and to Nevaditinae by Tozer (1994) and Balini and Zou (2015).
