Taxonomy
Parashumardites was named by Ruzhencev (1939) [Sepkoski's age data: C Step-l Sepkoski's reference number: 304]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Parashumarditidae.

It was assigned to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Parashumarditidae by Korn (2006), Furnish et al. (2009).
