Taxonomy
Schartymites was named by Librovitch (1939) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302,304]. It is not extant. Its type is Goniatites barbotanus.

It was reranked as Eoasianites (Schartymites) by Kullmann (1962).

It was assigned to Eoasianites by Kullmann (1962); to Goniatitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Stenolaphyritidae by Korn (2006); and to Stenoglaphyritinae by Furnish et al. (2009).
